Ashley laid herself down on the prickly grass and the warm ground, letting the sunshine soak into her skin. There were hardly any clouds in the sky today and usually she hated the sun but today she felt different. She felt like having fun and relaxing. Most of the time she would go out and steal things like peoples food but lately she had been feeling the urge to shift a lot; hence why she was out here in the first place. Heaving her body up, she looked at her hands, smiling for what felt like the hundredth time that day. Now that she thought about it, as it was a pretty excluded area she could always try shifting here. Closing her eyes, she softly exhaled and tried to imagine a girl inside her head. Once she had the girl envisioned within her mind, she began the shifting process. She could have quickened it up but she wanted to relish in the feeling of change. Her hair grew curlier and longer, slightly ginger-blonde. Her skin coloured lightened and her eyes darkened to a black. Glasses formed on the bridge of her nose (fragile of course) whilst her clothes changed to a light skirt and a loose pink shirt. Not her favourite colour but she guessed it looked good on her. Smiling at her work, she stretched out and stood up, twirling around. Suddenly, there was a crack of a tree branch towards her left side. Her head whipped around to the direction or source of the noise. As a natural defence, her body stayed shifted rather than going back to her original form (something that sometimes happened in situations like this). She hesitantly looked at the person standing there.

The figure of a girl stood there, igniting her interest with her caramel blonde hair which seemed to bounce in waves. She did however, find herself cringing at the pink t-shirt. 'Maybe she likes glasses, like me.' Leo thought as her eyes caught sight of the slightly rounded glasses. Too busy looking at the girl Leo forgot to check where she was walking and effectively managed to step on a stray tree branch. Inside she cursed, of course, her magic had been no use in sudden situations like this. Her breath had stopped once she stepped on the branch, attempting to scramble back a bit. Eventually she gained the confidence to step out into the clearing, clearing her throat whilst doing so. Then, in an awkward voice she spoke "Urm...hello?", but her voice cracked whilst saying the -o of hello, her deep voice turning scratchy. Even though this habit annoyed her she had gotten used to it. Whilst in the shady forest Leo hadn't noticed the pulsing sunlight, so when it finally decided to blaze down upon her she felt her left eye twitch. "Why is it so sunny today?" With this thought in mind Leo put the matter about the girl into the back of her mind, beginning to walk to a shady patch. This area seemed to have more dirt than grass, but she still sat down, leanining on the tree. Leo quickly became bored and decided to test her magic. She slipped her handwatch out from her trouser pocket, having forgot to wear a jacket today. Calming down her heartbeat she began to stare at the clocks moving hands, almost willing them to move slower. For 5 minutes she stared at the clock, before the clock hands slowed to a stop. But before she managed to start counting how many seconds it stopped for, something distracted her. Shocked, she dropped the watch, feeling it clatter on impact with the ground. At this moment time seemed to snap back to normal. "Ah, I forgot you were there!" she spoke in a startled voice. In a rushed manner, Leo looked away, hands quickly finding her pocket clock.

Ashley gave the strange girl a weird look but did not say a word to her. She was strange for the time that they lived in but at the same time it was a refreshing break from their society. Currently, Ash did not happen to have many, if any female friends and seeing as this girl seemed decent and like someone that she would get along with, she decided to approach her. Surveying the mystery persons actions, she watched as she went to sit under the tree looking as though she didn't enjoy the sunlight. Chuckling, she put her arms around her knees and continued to watch. For a second she swore that she saw a flicker of the girl but rubbed her eyes, trying to convince herself that she hadn't seen that. When she heard her speaking directly to her, Ashley jumped up from her previous comfy position and headed over to where the tomboy was. Now that she looked at the brunette from a close range, she actually looked quite feminine. But damn, if she had been a boy... Moving on, she tried to think of a good friendly way to start the conversation with Eloise. After having finally decided on a greeting, she smiled at the girl and said in her normal voice, "Hey, my name is Ashley Cynthia Luxworth but you can call me Ash, Lux or Thea. What about you?" She debated about whether or not she should have extended her hand out for the other girl to shake but declined the idea when she envisioned in her mind what the situation might turn out like. Trying to not be bitchy, angry, mean or bad tempered was so difficult for her and certainly did not come naturally to her at all so if this attempt at being polite didn't work, nothing would. She hoped that she wasn't too forward towards her - at least she didn't tell her about what her magic was or rather, what she could do (she preferred it when others tried to guess it but trying to confuse them by rapidly shifting was a fun way to do it too).

She then thought back to a few moments ago - the way Ashley had looked at her implied that she, like most others, thought she was a girl at first sight. Leo moved her hand backwards, putting the majority of her weight on it, feeling the grass gently prick at her palms and fingers. From her other pocket she removed a wrapped spicy bread packet, quickly removing it and tearing off a portion of the snack. After swallowing it and relishing in the firey taste she spoke again, her playful manner being subtle. "And no, I'm not a boy." Sensing a kink in her prized hair Leo ran her fingers briefly through her hair, releasing a small puff of air at the same time. Opening her eyes again she took a closer look at Ashley. To her, Ashley seemed quite feminine, something which she was opposed to, but they could have similar traits - right? Attempting to be a bit nicer, Leo tore off another piece of bread, appearing to be orange tinted with red specks of chilli and spices. Her ultimate treat and snack all in one; the fact that it smelled of caynne pepper was also a bonus. Reluctantly she moved her hand foward towards the caramel haired girl, as if she was doing an offering of peace. Sure, she was girly and may not be nice, but she needed to find out what she was like before choosing whether or not to become friends with her. Maybe Ashley could even help her improve her magic. Whilst this was happening she also became more curious as to what Path she was on. The urge to ask kept on building in the pit of her stomach, before her curiousity literally got the better of her. Words seemed to spew from her mouth before she realised it, "So....What Path are you on?" Upon realising what she'd said Leo immediately tried to correct her wording, not wanting to provoke the girl she'd just met. Not on any account would Leo miss the chance to make a friend, unless they were of high authority or had bad manners. So rushed she was that Leo stumbled on her words, making the atmosphere become slightly awkward. "You don't have to answer me." Frustrated with her current lack of social skills Leo looked away, slipping of the metal ring that she usually wore to practise with. To calm her nerves she pulled the sides of the ring together with her forefingers and thumbs from both hands, pinching them together. In recognition of her magic, the ring seemed to melt into the set shape she'd practised many times. Still slightly edgy, Leo continued to fiddle with the thick but small piece of metal before gently prodding the top of the metal with her right forefinger, causing it to slowly bend back to it's original shape. 'I wonder what her magic is...and if she likes me or not.' She slipped on the ring again, the metal still relatively cool, afterwards re-adjusting her glasses so that the nose piece didn't suffocate her nose bridge. Attentively, she waited for Ashley's replies.

Ashley tried to repress the urge to smirk at Leo upon seeing the girl being frustrated at her lack of social skills. She had never ever really been like that as far as she could remember despite not having many female friends. She had always found that she got on far better with the male population for some strange reason. Swiftly moving on, she flipped her hair behind her shoulder (a mere habit that she had picked up over the years) and boldly and proudly replied to her, "I myself am I on the Path of Magic. I won't tell you what type of magic I do though - you'll have to figure that out yourself." Winking, she continued on, "And from what I can see, you're on the Path of Magic - metal manipulation and time control? Don't ask how I know, I have very good eyesight." She thumped down onto the ground and grinned at Leo. She was determined to befriend her - she didn't want someone who looked like a flirt to be her friend - too much competition. Slowly, she allowed her self to shift form into another girl as she tried to gradually reveal herself and hopefully by the end of the shift Eloise would have realised that she was a shifter who only did shifting magic. She now had a black cardigan, white top with a yellow design on it with a black hat and plaid monotone crops. Her once curly golden hair faded and turned paler and straighter with one lock of the right side of her hair plaiting itself. Now, this outfit she felt much more comfortable in. Secretly, she wondered if she and Leo could help each other to improve their magic.

Whilst doing so her control of gravity on herself slipped, lifting her not even a cm into the air from her sitting position before she landed again. She cursed herself internally, 'Damn, I really need to practice more...' So Ashley was a Shifter? The seemingly flirtacious girl was trying to make friends with her it appeared, and so far she'd figured out two of her magics. Of course, two of her magics - Time and Gravity were very weak, but they were naturally hard to control, having a complex structure of learning. Still, her lack of ability in these magics and her lack of iron resulting from her Metal Magic made her a relatively weak witch. To be honest, Leo was amazed by Ashleys' control of her Shifting Magic, and due to this, she blurted a question accidently."How do you have so much control over your magic?" Whilst doing this Leo felt her lips press into a pout of annoyance. Out of habit she touched her piece of metal, feeling the urge to feel it twist in her hands. But she stopped ubruptly once she felt a slight tug on her heart; once again she had used the metal from her blood. 'What good is it having metal magic if I just become anemic from it?' A sigh burst from her lips before she reached for an iron tablet which she had hidden in a spicy bun. There was no way she could take them dry, it had to be with a drink or food that she liked. With mere anticipation and worry that she appeared too annoying, Leo waited for the reaction of Ashley.

A slight laugh escape her mouth as she saw Leo's eyes and change in expression as a result of having shifted. Ashley smiled slightly at Leo although it probably would have looked more like a smirk to others. "Well, I only have one type of magic - shifting so I focus all my time on that; rather than using two or three magic types. And I can easily defend myself with weaponry too so why bother using magic for it? I've been doing shifting for years now and I guess that I'm just naturally gifted." She narrowed her eyes slightly, as if she was trying to figure out something. Hmm, she didn't know why but she felt like there was more to Eloise than meets the eyes. It was as if she was hiding something. Curiosity killed the cat. "So, do you have any other kinds of magic that you use?" She tried to appear friendly. Strangely, she admired Leo's tomboy-ish personality in a way - it made the girl different from everyone else which was a good thing (no competition). Leo reminded her of her cousin, Cinder so she felt like being nice and friendly, dare she even say; trying to befriend her. In the midst of her boredom whilst she was awaiting an answer, her hand pulled at she grass beneath her hands, tugging it from the soil before throwing it to who-knows-where. Her eyes scanned around the field before they settled on a bun of some sorts. She was so hungry. "Hey, what is that and can I have some?" She prayed that she hadn't sounded to rude - sometimes her mouth spoke before she had time to think.
